Nobel interview in Belgium
Today Graham interviewed Baron François Englert, winner with Peter Higgs of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physics, at the opening session of the Science Centre World Summit in Mechelen, Belgium. Englert told the audience of a thousand how—like Paul Dirac—he moved into fundamental physics after studying engineering, never regretting either.
Before the interview, Professor Englert told Graham that he had read and much enjoyed The Strangest Man—’What a biography it is! I never realised what an interesting man Dirac was, and that he had so many interests, including Soviet politics.’ On Englert’s bedside table, he now has a copy of Graham’s latest book, Churchill’s Bomb.
